3 Reasons You’re Better Off Hiring a Professional Actor
3 min readIf you have already surpassed your amateur directing or writing phase, you’ll want to make sure that your actors are on the same wave as you. Let’s go over some of the pros of bringing in the pros.
Quality
If you have a quality script for a film, play, or whatever other performance you may have created, you will want to have quality actors. This can be boiled down to the fact that experience is what makes someone a professional in their field. The more you do something, the better at it you become. We have been taught this since we were little and it stands true in every part of life.
Simply put, you can tell the difference between actors with little to no experience and those that have been through a few rodeos. Professional actors for hire are available in your area and if you can pay enough, you can even get some really big names from around the world to join your production.
The best tip we can provide you is to find your sweet spot. If you have been doing this for a while and have friends in the industry, they can help you find the right actors for your script. Sometimes it doesn’t always have to be the best of the best, but they can help steer you away from casting your friends and family.
Experience
Although we touched on this above, experience is going to be another factor that will shine through with each performer. If your talent has been acting for 5 years, been in numerous plays and televisions, and has acquired parts in bigger budget films, then you know you will not have to hold their hand. With inexperienced actors, you may have to be more of a coach to them.
If you don’t mind holding their hand to get them through, then that is up to you. However, if you’re looking to create a piece of work that exemplifies your work as a creator, you should have actors that represent exactly what you are trying to convey. How many times have we seen a movie or show where we think that maybe someone could have played the part better?
Experience in the industry is just going to make your job easier. You won’t have to spend as much time trying to cast for certain positions. You won’t have to worry about checking references or previous artists to get their reviews on working with the actor. Experienced actors will be able to serve you better than newbies.
Reception
As stated above, viewers can always tell the difference between good and bad actors. And generally with bad acting, it’s a lack of experience or talent. Unfortunately, it will continue to happen but you can avoid that if you look to sources that provide seasoned professionals.
And the actors are a reflection of yourself. If this is the script that was written by you, directed by you, and/or produced by you, then they are representing you. No one wants to send someone out in front of the camera that is going to make the whole production look bad.
Regardless of how you go about acquiring your professionals, get yourself a crew of your peers in the industry to help with auditions. Sometimes we can get tunnel vision when we are passionate about what we are creating. This may cause missteps or oversights in the process and your fellow industry professionals can help you see every viewpoint.
